Get your Hot Rod Hood Louvered here at Dowco Enterprises. With our Louver Press we can punch Classic Hot Rod Hood Louvers into your hood, decklid, or just about any other flat panel, whether it be for your Street Rod or even Commercial use for ventilation. Louvers can provide this ventilation as well as that Classic Hot Rod look of a Louvered Hood!
Tech Stuff:
The paint will need to be removed from the inside and out. I would prefer you do this ahead of time to ensure that there is no bondo or any such thing under the paint before it gets to me. Not to mention your body and paint guy isn't going to like sanding in and around each louver with his finger after the louvers are punched! A light coat of primer is ok, but no bodywork or bondo or anything. Any underneath bracing will need to be cut away and welded back into place as well. We can do this for you for an additional charge.
The Louvers are a standard 3" long by 3/4" wide Hot Rod Louver. The louvers are 1 1/4 " apart from each other (from flat edge to flat edge of each louver). This will give you about 8 louvers every 10". Rows can be as close together as 4" on center or as far apart as you want. My press is limited in depth to approx 41". So that means I can go about 41" back from the front of the hood to the flat of the last louver in the rows. If the hood is tapered on the front then obviously I can go back further on the outer rows as the front taper will allow. BTW....Due to popular demand, I'm in the process of building a new deeper throat press to accomodate longer hoods up to 56".
The cost is $2.50 per louver and that includes layout time, unless of course you want some odd pattern in which case there may be an additional charge for layout time.
I also sell bare louvered metal strips if you want to graph them into a section on your vehicle that either is not removeable to put up in the louver press, or is such an odd shape or curviture that it won't fit up in the press. I can provide just strips or various width panels with multiple rows of louvers in them.
If you are local you can bring the hood to me or you can always box it up and ship it to me as many people do. Please call or email ahead of time to make arrangements.
